A few questions with regard to posting pictures..?

A few questions with regard to posting pictures..?

I love photography would like to go into it sometime in my life and I would like to make an online portfolio. Would you suggest it? If so what is the best unpaid website that gives you the rights to post your photos but allows people to buy them if they like the photo? I was looking at smugmug.com and I want the same kind of quality as that website but I dont want to have to pay for the service after 14 days. I would totally look into that site once I have some money. Also I am very afraid of people stealing my photos for projects and stuff off of the internet which is why I havent posted them online or if I had they were under serious protection and they didnt stay up long. So I was thinking about using watermarks and things like that but I have no clue as to where I can do that without paying much and how to track my photos if they are taken to other sites. I use photoshop which has the option to embed watermarks but you have to pay for the services of tracking your photo. What can I do in that respect? I have more than 200 photos that I would like to put on.

Did you try Deviantart? its probably the most reliable site out there you can put creative commons thatll protect your rights and you can sell it also

You can try Flickr.com or photobucket.com it is free and easy to upload pictures and there is also an option where you can select if you want your pictures protected so nobody can save them. I hope this helps :

Try http://www.photshelter.com they have a free account you can try and if you need more space you can move to a paid account. They allow you to ad a watermark and have also teamed up with Tineye. The best protecting for your images are to register them with the copyright office place metadata into your files and use a watermark. Photoshelter does have ecommerce.
