Novels vs movies: differences in storytelling?
Im planning on writing a novel. Ive thought over the plot over my last two years of college and I finally have a nice outline in which smaller conflicts build suspense until the final climax the major characters each have full personalities and sound motivations and everything makes sense. My concern is that my knowledge of storytelling comes mostly from watching movies instead of reading books. I mean I read from time to time but I watch movies a helluva lot more often. For the past few years every time I watch a movie or a TV show I analyze it. I note things such as cliches to avoid and what really sparks emotions and gives me chills. My question: Is there a huge difference in storytelling between novels and movies? Example: I have noticed that because you dont have to read a book in one sitting novels include more scenes than movies.
