GM shuttered pontiac saturn and oldsmobile division when they were actually good cars. Why?

They should have shuttered the cadillac division because those are the true cars which had lowest sales. Their prices have been way too high and at such prices people go for bmw or lexus instead. With very low cadillac sales they continue it in operation only to keep it a prestige issue that they match bmw and lexus in any way. But whats the point when nobody buys cadillacs anymore? the sales are ridiculously low. And I know pontiacs and saturn did sell a lot. To keep their prestige and image they kept cadillac. Its very poor decision. Also note most caddis have such poor resale value. pontiacs have been known to go over 300000 miles. Same with Saturns. For such poor decision they should not even have been getting bailout
