do you think the human race was better off when we were mostly subsistence farmers?
sure we worked from sun up to sun down we lived shorter lives but not as short as the stats say they like to average in infant mortality to exaggerate the figures but for the most part life was as simple and satisfying as a hard days work. You either worked hard enough to save enough food to survive the winter or you died. There were food shortages diseases grief over lost frequently loved ones. Now we suffer from the opposite affliction. We dont worry about having enough food we worry about having too much. Instead of working at the plow we work on the treadmill for the only purpose of shedding the fat accumulated from having too much food to eat. People used to stuggle to accumulate fat to survive the winter now we struggle to shed the fat to survive the prejudice of others ostensibly for the health benefits yeah right. Our motives for physical labor used to be life and death now its just to have a good looking ass so we can get laid. I want to go back to Thomas Jeffersons America the family farm utopia he so dearly loved. But even Jefferson saw its fate approaching he knew the machines would someday destroy this simple beautiful life. Today I imagine we all live something like the old french aristocrats or the elite of ancient rome. We are a hedonistic society obsessed with having the nicest cars clothes houses and the latest gadgets with more bells and whistles than the guy or girl in the cubicle next to us. We suffer en masse from mental health issues like depression practically unknown in the old world. We are packed together in closer physical proximity than ever at work on the bus at the bar yet socially we are all alone in the middle of the sahara we barely listen to each other just eagerly waiting for our turn to talk to deaf ears. We barely help one another because our problems are almost never life and death anymore so theres not enough need to make us overcome our selfishness and heroically assist each other. Or if we are motivated to help we hesitiate because we have all been used and abused by selfish people that gladly take but never give back except by coersion or guilt tripping. How can we connect with eachother under these conditions? How can we ever experience emotional bonding with each other if we dont directly need each other for survival? In fact we are so conditioned to ignore each others problems that even life or death situations are met with massive indifference. I have seen people about to jump off bridges bleeding profusely on the street in horrible pain and people just stare or walk by ignoring them a phenomenon that would inspire the deepest disgust by the generation of our forefathers.

you were better off when you were still huntergatherers as you were designed to be. The fact that you arent contributes greatly to many of your ailments.
