Computer will not start properly after installing Windows XP Service Package 3.?

Computer will not start properly after installing Windows XP Service Package 3.?

About a month ago my computer got a bug and I reformatted it. I just got a new game but when I tried to install it it said I needed to have Windows XP service Package 3. So I went to my automatic updates and saw that it hadnt been installed yet so I installed it. When it was finished a message came up stating I had to restart my computer for the update to take effect. I restarted my computer but now my computer just keeps booting up and restarting. It will not take me to my desk top. How can I fix this problem without having to reformat my computer again?

Boot in Safe Mode by pressing F8 when you see your computer logo on the screen. Perform a System Restore to a date just before you did the updating to SP3. Once you are in redo the SP3 updating from IE Windows Update.
